Before beginning the MSc in Education, Public Policy and Equity, Yaqian graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Labour and Social Security from the Inner Mongolia University. Her undergraduate research focused on analysing the impact of pensions endowment systems on older 'empty-nesters', highlighting the need for psychological care for older populations alongside social security provision. During her undergraduate studies, Yaqian spent a semester studying at Hong Kong University and completed an internship with AIA Hong Kong where she conducted comparative analysis of different social security systems and led a team to win the Business Cases Analysis Competition. Since transitioning into the field of education, Yaqian's areas of interest centre on gender equity, special education and regional disparities in educational quality.
