SCOTT CAIRNS

Policy Analyst, Scottish Funding Council

Scott has studied at the University of Glasgow for the past five years, successfully obtaining two degrees; an undergraduate degree in Economic and Social History (MA, SocSci) and a postgraduate degree in Education, Public Policy and Equity (MSc). Previously, Scott has worked for the Scottish Government, where he published a paper on the returns from education, analysing the costs and benefits of the various types of education (from vocational to higher) in relation to an individual's time and monetary investment. He is currently a Freelancer for Research Scotland, whilst seeking a permanent career in social research. Scott is particularly interested in social justice theories, inequality in higher education and processes of community engagement.
