MARIANA KAKARAKIS

Mariana received an undergraduate degree in International Criminal Justice and Political Science from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. Prior to attending the University of Glasgow, Mariana worked as a Public Affairs Fellow at the New York State Assembly and coordinated efforts with city agencies and social service organisations to facilitate positive outcomes for the constituents of the district. Furthermore, she previously conducted and published research on nuclear trafficking. Given her own educational background in criminal justice, Mariana looks forward to integrating the MSc in Education, Public Policy and Equity degree with work in the field of prison reform, particularly prison education. Her particular interests lie in prison education, critical pedagogy and privatisation.
